Gettysburg’s Haunted Location: Gettysburg National Military Park
The battle of Gettysburg was one of the most crucial battles fought during the Civil War. Thousands of young men lost their lives tragically during this battle, many more were injured. The remains of the deceased were buried in farms, scattered around the battlefield, and on hospital grounds. There was no set location for the remains to be disposed of. Many soldiers went into unmarked graves, and sometimes into mass graves.
Gettysburg National Military Park was built as a way to honor the soldier who lost their lives. It is said that this is the most haunted location in Gettysburg. Many people claim to see soldiers still roaming the battlefield at night. Visitors also have reported when they take pictures and apparition will appear, unusual orbs of light will appear, and sometimes grassy fields will turn black in photos.
Gettysburg’s Haunted Location: Devil’s Den
The Devil’s Den is located on the Gettysburg Battlefield, and is the place where the most horrific battles occurred. Surrounded by large granite boulders, the Devil’s Den was a prime location for sharpshooters to sit. It is also one of the most visited locations for ghost hunters. Most of the paranormal activity that occurs at Gettysburg Battlefield is centered on Devil’s Den.
Paranormal investigators have reported hearing disembodied voices, smelling gunpowder, seeing orbs, seeing full body apparitions, and camera malfunctions. There are also many people who state that the unique design of the Devil’s Den is creepy in itself, even without the ghosts. Devil’s Den is a must visit location for anyone who wants to experience paranormal activity.
Gettysburg’s Haunted Location: Sachs Bridge
Sachs Bridge was used by the Confederate Army as a way to retreat to Virginia once the Battle of Gettysburg ended. Sachs Bridge is considered to be one of the most historical covered bridges in the United States. It has been closed to traffic since 1968, which means that ghost hunters can investigate the bridge without worrying about traffic.
Legend has it that three Confederate soldiers that were caught being spies were hanged from the bridge. Paranormal claims include seeing soldiers hanging from the bridge, hearing cannon fire, the sounds of running horses, and random apparitions. Even if visitors do not experience paranormal activity Sachs Bridge is still a great location to visit. The beauty of the bridge and the area surrounding the bridge should not be passed up.
